Under TVA's Green Power Providers Holston Electric Cooperative members may install a solar, wind, low-impact hydropower, or biomass generation system up to 50 kilowatts. This program offers full retail value for all of the electricity produced. With the GPP program, there are two meters at the consumer’s location; the billing meter and the new generation meter measuring the power produced by the green energy system. TVA purchases 100 percent of the energy generated by the participant to support TVA’s Green Power Switch program, and a check is issued directly to the member once annually.
Step 1: Members must read the 2017 Green Power Providers Program Participation Guidelines .
Step 2: Any Holston Electric Cooperative, Inc. member planning to complete a Capacity Reservation Request Form is required to personally call or email John Long, Director of Engineering at Holston Electric before completing the form to discuss the planned installation. Failure on behalf of the member to personally contact Mr. Long will result in the Capacity Reservation Request being denied.
Step 3: If approved, the member will be notified and may begin the Green Power Providers application process.
Step 4: From start to finish, the project must be complete within 180 days.
